Gene Mulroy is a founding principal at Open Door Media (ODM). He has more than two decades of experience in managing and developing public relations and public affairs campaigns for clients on a host of public issues. Gene specializes in building and activating third-party advocate networks as well as managing media and community relations programs.
Gene was formerly a political commentator NJBiz, where he reported on legislative matters affecting the New Jersey’s business community. He was also named to Business News New Jersey’s “Who’s Who” list of the most influential business people in New Jersey and awarded its distinguished “Forty Top Business Leaders Under the Age of 40.”
Gene was a graduate Fellow at the Eagleton Institute of Politics, Rutgers University, where he earned a MA in political science with a professional concentration in public policy. He also holds a BA in political science from the University of Massachusetts at Boston.
Gerry Gibbs is a highly respected figure in public service with over a decade of legislative, policy and political experience at the local, state and federal level. Gerry’s areas of focus are business development and financial services where he utilizes his extensive networks and expertise on behalf of his clients.
He was a presidential appointee in the Clinton Administration, serving in the U.S. Department of Labor in the Secretary’s public affairs office where he was responsible for preparation of briefing materials for use by department officials; and in the U.S. Department of Commerce where he was responsible for the advance planning for all logistic arrangements for domestic and international travel for the Secretary of Commerce.
Prior to founding Open Door Media and its affiliate, Capital Impact Group, Gerry held high-level positions at the New Jersey Department of Treasury, serving as Assistant State Treasurer and Director of the Legislative Affairs Unit which assists and oversees the annual budget process. Working with Republicans and Democrats alike, the legislative unit also handled legislator’s constituent requests. While at Treasury, he helped implement the State Alternative Investment Program which invested a portion of the State’s $70 billion pension portfolio to outside money managers and oversaw the Division of Public Finance, Pensions and Investments.
He has extensive political campaign experience serving as senior adviser to legislative and gubernatorial candidates, political director in New Jersey for the presidential campaign of Al Gore, and national advance staff member for President William J. Clinton’s re-election campaign.
Gerry started his professional career as a legislative assistant for Congressman Donald M. Payne for four years. He founded the New Generation Leadership PAC, a bipartisan organization which raised money for and supported progressive congressional candidates.
A graduate of Howard University with a BA in Political Science, Gerry also holds Series 7 and 63 securities licenses and is a founding principal at Open Door Media.
Shantè Palmer is a public affairs executive, community advocate and college professor. Her tenure in government, community relations, higher education and grassroots campaigns spans over a decade and demonstrates exceptional experience and professional distinction.
Prior to joining Open Door Media and Capital Impact Group as Senior Vice President, Shante served as Senior Projects Specialist for U.S. Senator Cory Booker. In her capacity as Senior Projects Specialist she acted as a liaison to federal, state, and local agencies, represented the Senator at public events throughout the state, maintained networks of contacts with organizations, legislators, and community leaders, hosted events, and formed effective relationships on behalf of the Senator. In addition, she has served as an Advisor for U.S. Senator Jeff Chiesa and as Project Specialist for the late U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg where she was responsible for project development in the statewide issue areas related to housing, education, small business, economic development, and urban issues.
Shante began her career at the National Labor Relations Board, where she served as Compliance Specialist responsible for coordinating compliance on settlements, Court Judgments, and Board Orders in the NJ Regional Office. She also served as Project Associate at the Center for Law and Metropolitan Equity at Rutgers Law School, Executive Board member of the Montclair NAACP, and as a Board Member for Montclair’s affordable housing organization, HOMECorp.
Shante is a proven leader with key relationships and expertise that has helped solidify her as one of New Jersey’s 50 Powerful Young Black Democrats, listed on PolitickerNJ by the New Jersey Young Democrats of America. Shante has worked as an advocate for expanding access to education, economic opportunities, civic engagement, and community sustainability. She serves on numerous grassroots campaigns in Essex County, and is alumnus of Emerge New Jersey, the premier political leadership training program for Democratic women. Lastly, Shante currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Essex County College, where she teaches American Government.
Shante is alumnus of Essex County College, Montclair State University, and received her Executive Masters in Public Administration (EMPA) from Rutgers-Newark. Her current positions and previous experience exemplify her dedication and continued involvement with public, community, and political organizations.
Elizabeth Vinson has nearly two decades of experience coordinating public relations and communication strategy campaigns both at the state and national level, specializing in creating and executing impactful messaging to advance clients’ policy goals.
Elizabeth has a solid foundation in effective strategic planning and coalition management, enabling her to develop focused communications and social media plans that best resonate with stakeholders and move issues forward.
Elizabeth got her start in public affairs working for nearly a decade for the nation’s largest statewide employer association where she coordinated the association’s lobbying efforts in education, workforce development, small business, and federal business issues. For many years, Elizabeth also directed the association’s grassroots activities, including a network of 18 local employer groups.
Elizabeth is very active in local politics and community initiatives and is a graduate of the Christine Todd Whitman Series, a leadership program for women in New Jersey. She has served on several local boards including membership on the Mercer County Community College Board of Trustees. She is active in several civic organizations in her community and is very involved in her sons’ academic and athletic programs.
Elizabeth is a graduate of Lehigh University and earned her Master’s degree in Politics and Public Affairs from the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University.
